17 Yellows, Xabi Irureta & A Seven Goal Thriller

Talking Points Indian Super League

That time of week again. Yes it’s Monday and very few of you will enjoy going to work/school/college on a Monday, however, it also means it’s time for another edition of 1-25 and if that doesn’t excite you, then I don’t know what will! For all of you 1-25 virgins out there, what we’ll be doing is looking at a stat relating to every number from one to twenty-five from the weekend’s action. Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it?

The games we are getting involved with this weekend are Kerala Blasters 0-0 Chennaiyin, Delhi Dynamos 4-3 ATK, Pune City 0-4 FC Goa and Jamshedpur 0-2 Bengaluru. The games were a nightmare to call as usual as the prediction league saw zero correct scores this week, which I believe to be a first. Anyway, the prediction league can wait its turn, let’s get stuck into the penultimate 1-25 of the season…

1

Missed penalty. Kerala’s Courage Pekuson the guilty party. If he had scored that, they would currently be occupying one of the top four places. Instead, they’re fifth with a mountain to climb.

2

Away wins; for FC Goa & Bengaluru respectively.

3

Goals scored in a game for the first time in eighteen games for ATK. They still lost.

4

Goals scored in a game for the first time in twenty games for Delhi Dynamos. They beat the aforementioned ATK.

5

First-half corners for Kerala Blasters. Pressure.

6

Points separate 2nd-7th and only three of those can make the top four. To the wire.

7

Is now FC Goa’s goal difference after winning 4-0, which could make all the difference. Tight.

8(th)

Is now where Delhi now find themselves in the league table after spending much of the season rooted to the foot of the division. Dizzy heights.

9

Goals scored by the away sides. Away days.

10

Goals for the season for Chhetri and Uche after their exploits this weekend. Joint 3rd.

11

Minutes after Miku gave Bengaluru the lead, Chhetri made it 2-0. Double trouble.

12

Accurate passes by Delhi’s Kalu Uche, not a bad day at the office at all. Integral.

13

Shots from FC Goa. Return to form.

14

Duels that Gregory Nelson was involved in for Chennaiyin vs Kerala. He won nine of them.

15

Coro goals for the season. Another bet landed.

16

Long balls pinged by Delhi keeper Xabi Irureta. 50% found their intended target. Average.

17

Yellow cards spread over four games. Tasty.

18

Minutes after getting his first booking, Jamshedpur’s Hossain got his marching orders. Cheerio.

19

Accurate passes by Coro. Is there anything he can’t do?

20

Goals scored and conceded this season by Kerala. As you were.

21

Minutes after equalising, ATK were 3-1 up. Probably best not to mention the final score.

22

Minutes on the clock when Uche broke the deadlock in the Delhi-ATK game. Six more goals followed.

23

Corners won by the home sides this weekend. Home comforts.

24

Balls won in the air in the Kerala vs Chennaiyin match, twelve apiece. Keep it on the deck!

25

Accurate passes by Bengaluru’s Subashish Bose. Tidy.

There we go, 25 facts that perhaps you didn’t know all courtesy of the Indian Super League. With the regular season drawing to a close this week, we’ll have one final one the same time next week and then we’ll play it by ear for the Playoffs, I’m sure we can figure something. We’ve also touched on doing a mammoth 1-100 for the season once it’s all over and that hasn’t been forgotten about, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Until the next time.
