Believe It Or Not, We Actually Did Rather Well For A Change…

Indian Super League Prediction League

Results time. With extreme confidence, I can say that I look forward to these results much more than I ever did my exam results. That may or may not have something to do with me trying much harder in one than the other. You can decide which one that is. I’ll give you a little push in the right direction; it definitely wasn’t the exams. We could argue until we’re blue in the face about the importance of exams and education etc, but that would go on all day and quite frankly dear, I don’t give a damn.

If you recall the actual predictions themselves earlier this week (if you don’t, you can read them here) we looked at the correct score and the first goalscorer, so I guess you could say it was somewhat of a double whammy. We’ll begin with the results surrounding the first goalscorers as not many points were scored at all in that part.

Yours truly was the only one to land the magic five points as Chhetri blew Neroca away with ANOTHER mesmerising hattrick. In terms of the results, one person managed to get all of the correct outcomes without any landing any correct scores and that’s where the real points are. Before I show you the table, remember green means correct result, bold & green means correct score.

Steve cleaned up with the results, I cleaned up with the correct scores. I’m not going to get too carried away yet as I had a strong start to the first prediction league and then faded off into mediocrity. Here’s how the table looks after the first four…

Nine point gap is some good going if I do say so myself and with us only having three more games that we’re predicting (I think), it should be enough. Famous last words, indeed.

In terms of the games themselves, the one that jumps out the most is, of course, the Jamshedpur game because it was a total farce as both teams were reduced to eight men after a scuffle in the tunnel. Madness. Nothing quite sums up the state of Indian officiating than a good old-fashioned fuck up!

Enough about the state of the officials, let’s see what games we’ve got to get stuck in with this week…

East Bengal vs FC Goa (16.04) | Mohun Bagan vs Bengaluru (17.04)

Yeah, there’s only the two in this edition and they are of course the semi-finals. I’ll come back to you towards the end of next week with our predictions for the final, in the meantime, here’s what we believe will happen in these…

East Bengal vs FC Goa (Super Cup Semi-Final)

Predictions – JF: 2-4 (Boumous), MS: 0-2 (Coro), SB: 1-3 (Coro).

Verdict: FC Goa win. Unsurprisingly, we’ve all opted for the ISL side to advance to the final. Mark & Steve have played it safe and gone for Coro to open the scoring whereas I’m counting on Hugo Boumous to continue his goalscoring form of the last round.

Mohun Bagan vs Bengaluru (Super Cup Semi-Final)

Predictions – JF: 0-1 (Chhetri), MS: 1-2 (Udanta), SB: 1-2 (Miku).

Verdict: Bengaluru. We all think there’ll only be one goal between the sides which I think is a fair assessment because if it’s anything other than a tight affair, I’ll be incredibly surprised. Out of the two games, I feel this one is more likely to yield an ‘upset’ and I don’t really have a reason for that apart from it’s what my gut is telling me.

So, if we’re all right with what we’re saying, then we should see an all ISL final, I have a feeling that may not be the case, though… Tune in next time to see how we’ve all got on with it.

Until the next time.
